A digital print project on canvas, to emphasize the importance and weight of certain words, and how their meaning could slowly disappear if overused. This is shown through the gradual transparency of the words, the more they are written.
INTRODUCTION
For this project, I created a series of words printed on canvas, each with its unique font, style, and color. However, all of them have one particular similarity: the more the word is rewritten, the more it fades to white until they completely disappeared. The concept of meaningless words came from “Project Voice” poetry group which acted at our school, and what inspired me was a sentence one of the poets said: "the more you use a word, the less meaning it has".
SYMBOLISM
This is used as symbolism to indicate that no matter the connotation of the word if it’s abused, it loses its meaning completely. The words were then placed in a single horizontal line that surrounded the viewer in an arc shape. This was done to create a sense of emptiness and dread, as the viewers were literally surrounded by meaningless words.
