LONDON: THE CITY OF LIGHTS
25x21 cm
Light Projection Technique
2015
A light exposure project, which is meant to show the London landscape as an industrial powerhouse, which was rebuilt multiple times. This was done with the use of flashes and everyday objects.
INTRODUCTION
During my stay at an art summer course undertaken at The University of The Arts of London, I found myself attracted by the amount of design and art present in the city and how the different time periods of Britain's history became an integral part of the city itself.
STYLISTIC CHOICES
So, when we were tasked with creating a project with a mixture of photography and light projection techniques, I decided to represent London's Industrial and architectural icons which made the city so globally renowned. Therefore, I created this representation of the city, by dipping photography paper in a mixture of chemical and water after flashing the silhouettes of small objects which could remind of different artistic and industrial aspects of London, emphasizing how it became a beacon of light for the Western world.
