BREATHING SPACE

Service Design Project

2020

The first service I fully designed in a group project for the first year at the MA Service Design course at RCA. This work focused on tackling the issue around parents who were forced to work from home during the first Covid lockdown. This service aimed to be a solution to the issue of parents who had to juggle between their work and their young children. Thus, we came up with Breathing Space, a network of local workspaces with childcare, that makes it easy for working parents to have both quality work and family time. Additionally, it would allow both the parents and their children to interact with others in their situation in a safe environment, preserving the human interaction that was lost with the isolation period. In this presentation, you can see the process that led to the outcome of the project, how it will function, and its evolution in the market for the immediate future.
