IN THE SPIDER'S WEB

Digital Art

2017

One of my final digital satirical pieces, which criticizes one of the first anti-Islamic policies made by Trump in his early period at the White House. This is done by making the American government appear as a spider eagerly waiting for its prey.

INTRODUCTION

This illustration was my vision of Donald Trump’s law regarding the blocking of 7 Islamic states with relations to Terrorist organizations, effectively forbidding their people to travel into the US. The response of the American population itself was immediate, with thousands of people rushing to the airports as a sign of protest welcoming foreign people to their country with flyers and large posters. I wanted to portray this sign of protest of the American people, with an ironic twist, to emphasize the apparent futility of the protest.

SYMBOLISM ANALYSIS

Therefore, I designed this piece where I depicted the US citizens, as they try to welcome the Islamic people in arriving at the airport. However, the plane is unable to land due to the spider web set up by an “Uncle Sam” nationalist spider, expressing his distaste towards foreigners, depicting the dark side of Trump's America.
