FALL FROM GRACE

A satirical critique of the ex-Italian prime minister Matteo Renzi, during his referendum campaign. It was meant to symbolize how, over time, he fell from the people’s graces, and his strong point became his greatest hindrance.
INTRODUCTION
This was my interpretation of the effects that the Italian's Referendum elections had on the Italian prime minister Matteo Renzi. After losing the elections, Matteo Renzi announced in a speech shortly after the voting, that he would have abandoned his position. It was clear in my eyes that the reason he was resigning was due to the fact that the had fallen from the Italians' graces, as they had used the voting to effectively dethrone him.
PROCESS AND MEANING
Thus, I drew him latching to a Roman column, where Ancient Roman emperors were portrayed, as he is about to “fall off” his position of power, with the weight of the Referendum latching to his leg. This was in order to show what used to be his strong point had become a hindrance.
